History - Hans Trainer

Neugschwent - the past...

Hans Trainer was basically born as an equestrian because his father dealt with many horses due to agricultural reasons. Therefore, it came that Hans Trainer spent his childhood and teenage years with horses, at first mainly with Norikers and Haflingers.

Thus, it is no surprise that he spent his nine months at the Austrian Armed Forces at the “Tragtierkompanie”, the pack animal division, in which also the warm-blooded saddle horses of the officers had to be taken care of. It was here that Hans Trainer received his basic training in horseback riding, and from that point on it was clear to him, that his own horse had to be a warm-blood. This was what came closest to his nature.

Nevertheless, his aspirations to start his own business as a cabinetmaker slowed down his horse ambitions for the time being. It came that in 1976 he passed his master-examination and founded his own cabinetmaker company, which flourished in the following years.

Ready at last in 1985, Hans Trainer took over the farm of his father who unfortunately had died early. Luckily, the farm was already doing well-enough, so that the first horse could be bought: a black gelding, son of Delegrat from the Granissa. Knowing that horses are gregarious animals, it was wise to also buy the gelding´s sister Delissa, daughter of Delegrat from the Granissa.

Even though, Delissa was bought with the intention to ride her, she was soon covered because of her good descent. In April she foaled her first filly. Less and less time was left for the actual horseback riding and so it came that the attention was turned to the breeding. This was then consolidated with the purchase of the two German family-tree mares Garonne and Lacoste.

The entire breeding of the stud farm Neugschwent is based on these noble mothers: Delissa, Garonne and Lacoste. They were paired with top heirs such as Cor de la Bryere, Ramiro, Cordiolan, Alexis Z, Capitol, Donnerhall, Rubinstein, Rohdiamant, etc. Their descendants are our breeding base of today.

In 2002, Hans Trainer realised a dream of his with the construction of a great indoor riding arena, a jumping arena, a washing box, a pace machine and other neat accessories. All this is situated on a hillside and, through its staircase-shape on several levels, it is very harmoniously incorporated into the beautiful natural landscape.

So far, various successes were already achieved by the young breeding:

  • 1990      Attila – stud son of Accord, chosen for breeding in Austria.
  • In the following year various triumphs at shows
  • Participation at federal championships
  • Already 3 federal awards winning mares resp. aspirants Oldenburg – OS
  • 2006 - birth of 5 outstanding foals – 3 of 4 won awards in Oldenburg
  • 2007 - Confess - Brillantringstute in Rastede OS-international
  • 2008 - anticipation of descendants of top heirs such as Contendro, Lord Pezi, Depardieu, Light und Easy, Laurentio
